According to Tamil Nadu nationalist activist Pazha Nedumaran, LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran, who was thought to have been slain by the Sri Lankan Army in 2009, is still alive and well. Pazha Nedumaran asserted during a news conference that the international (political) climate and the vehement hostility to the Rajapaksas by the Sinhalese people in Sri Lanka had paved the way for Prabhakaran to become the leader of the Eelam Tamils. Nedumaran asserted that the LTTE commander is in good health and that the statement would put an end to any 'prepared' rumours that had been propagated about him.
